Hot Pickle Juice GANS collectors
Hot Pickle ZnO2 GANS salt collector
In an attempt to recycle the great amount of hot pickle juice I throw away I decided to recycle it with 2 collectors. There's pickle seeds, and chili and other small items floating in the container after I've finished all the pickles. Not pictured is a 5 gallon bucket I had purchased and finished the hot pickles of. I combined all the pickle juice that I would have otherwise dumped down the drain.

I therefore started filtering the hot pickle juice before doing anything with it. Using the larger container for filtered hot pickle juice and the smaller container will contain hot pickle juice boiled to dissolve more salt to start a GANS salt collector. Both will only have zinc disks added as terminals. Nothing nano coated.
For the small collector I will dissolve as much salt as I can in the boiling hot pickle juice as the rest of the salt will stay at the bottom. I was already making GANS salt collector water for another GANS salt collector and simply used the salt from that to add to dissolve with the hot pickle juice.
I then cooled it off in the refrigerator because salt usually forms on the top in the collector if not chilled before putting to use.
After chilling then, I poured off the top until I saw salt being disturbed and about to pour out as well. To get as much supersaturated hot pickle juice I filtered the remaining hot pickle juice so the salt doesn't just fall to the bottom of the collector. Supersaturated because I'm using heat to dissolve as much salt as possible at boiling and cooling it faster than the salt forms on the bottom. The salt doesn't precipitate from the solute in the refrigerator because the molecules still need to find each other and that takes a bit longer. I will most likely harvest the first batch in 2 or 3 weeks from now.
I have spent zinc discs that have been used up from a previous ZnO2 GANS collector and have been grinding off the coating. I'll be using these discs for the pickle reactors.
These are only experiments and wish I had more hot pickle juice to work with in case it works. I'm under the impression that distilled water is advised to keep the strength of the GANS as strong as possible. I've decided to think outside the box for the sake of using more recycled materials to create collectors. I imagine only salt is required to create a collector and the rest of the material can be found in trash laying on the ground in my small community.
I decided to move the collectors outside because the smell of the hot pickle juice evaporating is filling the entire house. I was leaving it exposed to the sun near a window. I've since moved the 2 outside for the entire operation.
36 hours into the process and ZnO2 GANS is forming between the zinc disks along with the precipitation of the first ZnO2 GANS salts that are the terminals for this reactor. No nano coated copper used.
